About BME Financial

My Story

Where Financial Expertise Meets Financial Empowerment

I built BME Financial on a simple belief: people make better financial decisions when they understand the numbers.

I founded BME Financial in 2012 to help small business owners manage essential financial functions, including bookkeeping and payroll. Over time, I realized that business owners needed more than someone to record transactions. They needed someone who could help them understand what their numbers were saying and what to do next.

That realization shaped the evolution of BME Financial into a Client Advisory Services (CAS)-focused firm.

Today, I help small business owners move beyond simply maintaining their books. I provide financial information, analysis, and strategic insight designed to help entrepreneurs understand their businesses, make informed decisions, improve financial performance, and plan for growth.

But my vision extends beyond business accounting.

I believe financial education should be accessible, practical, and relevant to everyday life. That’s why I’m also developing a broader financial literacy platform designed to help African American youth and adults build the knowledge and confidence necessary to earn, manage, protect, invest, and grow their money.

Because financial literacy isn’t just about knowing the numbers. It’s about knowing what to do with them.

Why I Do This Work

Small business owners are expected to understand accounting, taxes, payroll, cash flow, budgeting, technology, and business strategy—all while actually running their businesses.

That’s a lot.

I created BME Financial to make the financial side of business easier to understand and easier to manage.

I translate financial information into practical insights so business owners can move from:

“I have no idea what these numbers mean.”

to

“I understand what is happening in my business, and I know what I need to do next.”

My approach combines accounting expertise with education and strategic thinking. I don’t believe your financial statements should sit in a folder until tax time. Your numbers should help you make decisions throughout the year.

Whether you’re trying to improve cash flow, understand profitability, prepare for growth, or establish stronger financial systems, I’m here to help you turn financial information into actionable strategy.

My Mission

My mission is to empower individuals, entrepreneurs, and communities with the financial knowledge, information, and strategic guidance they need to make confident decisions, build sustainable businesses, create wealth, and strengthen their financial futures.

My Vision

I envision a world where financial literacy is not a privilege—it is a foundational life skill.

Through BME Financial and my growing financial education initiatives, I aim to make financial education accessible to African American youth and adults while providing high-quality financial advisory services to entrepreneurs and small business owners.

My long-term vision is to build an ecosystem where financial education begins early, continues throughout life, and creates a pathway from financial knowledge to ownership, wealth building, and generational impact.

Learn. Apply. Build. Grow. Legacy.

Brittany Edwards

Founder & Financial Strategist

I’m Brittany Edwards, the founder of BME Financial, an accounting and financial advisory business I established in 2012.

With a passion for accounting, finance, entrepreneurship, and education, I created BME Financial to help business owners better understand the financial side of their businesses and make more informed decisions.

My approach combines financial knowledge with practical education. Rather than simply presenting numbers, I focus on helping clients understand the story behind those numbers—and how that information can support better business decisions.

Through BME Financial, I work to bridge the gap between accounting information and business strategy, helping entrepreneurs build stronger financial foundations for sustainable growth.

My passion doesn’t stop with business owners. I’m also committed to making financial literacy more accessible to African American youth and adults.

My broader vision is to create educational resources, programs, and experiences that make financial concepts easier to understand and easier to apply in real life.

My philosophy is simple:

“You don’t have to be a financial expert to make better financial decisions. You just need the right information, the right tools, and someone willing to teach you how to use them.”

My Community Impact

Financial Knowledge Should Create Opportunity

My work isn’t limited to client engagements.

I’m committed to improving financial literacy in the communities I serve—particularly among African American youth and adults.

I believe financial education should go beyond definitions and terminology.

It should answer real questions:

How do I create a budget that actually works?

How does credit affect my financial future?

How do I start a business?

How do I know if my business is profitable?

How do I invest?

How do I prepare for retirement?

How do I build wealth?

How do I protect what I’ve built?

That’s the type of education I’m working to provide.

Youth Financial Education

Financial habits begin developing long before someone becomes a business owner or receives their first full-time paycheck.

My goal is to help young people develop foundational financial knowledge early through engaging, age-appropriate education covering topics such as:

  • Money management
  • Saving
  • Budgeting
  • Banking
  • Credit
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Investing
  • Wealth building
  • Financial decision-making

The ultimate goal isn’t simply to teach children about money.

It’s to help them grow into financially confident adults.

Adult Financial Education

Adults shouldn’t have to feel embarrassed because no one taught them how money works.

I’m developing practical educational resources designed to help adults strengthen their financial knowledge and make more informed decisions about:

  • Budgeting
  • Credit
  • Debt
  • Saving
  • Investing
  • Retirement
  • Homeownership
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Business finances
  • Wealth building
  • Legacy planning

No judgment. No unnecessary jargon. Just financial education you can actually use.

Community Partnerships

I believe meaningful financial education happens through collaboration.

I welcome opportunities to partner with:

  • Schools
  • Community organizations
  • Nonprofits
  • Businesses
  • Professional organizations
  • Entrepreneurial programs
  • Youth organizations
  • Community leaders

Together, we can create opportunities for people to learn how money works—and, more importantly, how they can use that knowledge to change their financial futures.

My Core Values

Education

I believe knowledge creates options.

Financial information should be understandable, accessible, and actionable—not reserved for people with finance degrees.

Integrity

Trust is the foundation of every client relationship.

I’m committed to providing honest communication, responsible guidance, confidentiality, and professional service.

Empowerment

My goal isn’t to create dependency.

I want my clients and students to become more confident in their ability to understand financial information, ask better questions, and make informed decisions.

Excellence

Good enough isn’t the standard.

I continuously look for ways to improve my knowledge, technology, processes, and client experience so I can provide meaningful value.

More Than Numbers

I believe accounting is about more than recording what already happened.

It’s about understanding what the numbers are telling you—and using that information to decide what happens next.

Whether you’re building a business, improving your personal finances, teaching your children about money, or working toward long-term wealth, I’m here to help you move forward with greater financial clarity and confidence.
